Artificial Intelligence has made its way into ICIS
Be inspired by how our global business is using AI powered tools to transform the way we work

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has undeniably changed how we see and experience the world today. AI algorithms enable machines to eliminate repetitive jobs, analyse documents and speech, automate tasks and even create art.
Everything and anything seems to be within reach for AI. In few years time, one can only imagine, to what extent will AI grow?
In this story, we delve into the fascinating world of AI, discussing how it is changing the game at ICIS.

Did you know you can easily write code faster and with less effort?
GitHub Copilot suggests code completions as developers type and turns natural language prompts into coding suggestions based on the project's context and style conventions

Github Copilot
I've been using Github Copilot on several tasks:
- Developing code in Python and SQL
- Develop M scripts for Excel and PowerBI
- Develop Soda checks for Data QA

Did you know you can create images using AI?
When you provide a description of the image you'd like to see, Bing Image Creator will work its magic and transform your idea into visually captivating artwork. Whether you're an experienced artist or a novice, this AI art generator helps you quickly translate your thoughts into visual art.

Bing Image Creator
I've been using this tool to help generate really specific visuals, that is far more engaging and interesting. If the usual stock images don't quite hit the mark, having the ability to detail exactly what it is you're trying to visualise, is very liberating! I've quickly learnt that you get what you ask for though, so the key is in the human input.
I like using Bing Image Creator. It generates images based on your words and encourages you to get really creative.

Did you know you can easily draft emails, messages, and documents?
Microsoft Copilot can quickly author and edit documents, which can massively increase productivity. Be sure to read through and add your human input, never underestimate the power of human intelligence.

Microsoft Copilot
I used the Microsoft Copilot tool earlier today with a specific question about different generations that I then shared on the call I was in with the Cultural Ambassadors. I've also written a long document to capture a lot of content, which I then uploaded into our internal AI tool and asked it to write a summary. It did a decent job and saved me a lot of time. I was then able to craft it to make it feel more human and like us.
Matt Barker, Head of Performance
I use Microsoft Copilot to do grammar and spelling checks to enhance my collaboration with our stakeholders.
Eric Perez, Campaigns Implementation Specialist
Using Microsoft Copilot can be a transformative experience, as it brings a new level of efficiency and creativity to your work. Whether you're coding, writing, or exploring new ideas, Copilot is designed to assist you by suggesting completions and generating content.
Mark Antonio, Operations Supervisor
I have used Microsoft Copilot (preview) in the past few months to:
- build better, more elegant excel formulas for manipulating data (part of the alignment project)
- rewrite/summarise insight pieces (for content convergence)
- draft email copy for market insight research
- and a bit of fun - to draft holiday travel itineraries and to suggest wine pairing for meals

Did you know you can skip "writers block" or creative slowdown?
ChatGPT is a natural language processing chatbot driven by generative AI that allows you to have human-like conversations to complete various tasks. For example, the AI tool can answer questions and assist you with tasks such as composing emails, essays, and code. It's currently open to use by the public for free!

Chat GPT
I have used Chat GPT to "refresh" production summaries that got too tedious over H2 2023 - markets were dead, there was little change each week etc. Still needed editing of course but helped with a fresh approach to the same info. Have used it recently to compile the supply, demand and pricing section of a chemical profile - by asking AI to summarise all of last year's regional overviews - also used it to help create bullet points for regional/global overviews using previous reports/stories I had written - that was not as successful but still helped to get things started.
Nel Weddle, Senior Editor, Olefins
I've been trying to automate the making of our energy editorial team rota (a fortnightly task that can take up to two hours) via ChatGPT (as in, I asked ChatGPT to do the whole thing). It's not quite there yet, but there have been some promising breakthroughs.
Silvia Molteni, Deputy Managing Editor, Energy
I have used ChatGPT when writing surveys and interview discussion guides for research. Asking it to write some questions in response to my research goals, I've found it makes a useful starting point when considering the best way to get the information I need.
Eleanor Holroyd, Associate UX Designer
I use Claude and ChatGPT to write Python code and Excel formulas, which have assisted me in automating my ECU index/ECU margin calculations. I am working towards coding a more complex system which will make it easier to calculate weekly and daily prices for Aromatics.
I have little training and experience with coding, and using AI has made it possible to interact with computers in a whole new way, which is great!

Did you know you can easily summarise key points in notes or conversations?
Leverage Dovetail's magic features to speed up analysis in your notes, cluster and uncover themes from highlights, and summarise notes, insights, and search results.

Dovetail
Dovetail's AI summarisation feature is a useful way to quickly remind myself what points were covered in a conversation. It tends to miss out some points I consider important, but its still valuable as a way to refresh my mind before diving deeper.
