Meet our people

Bee Lin Chow
Guangzhou, China

This is my 17th year at ICIS and it has been a fulfilling journey in which I’ve got to broaden my experience through various different teams and roles. I joined the business as part of the Editorial team based in Singapore. Through the eight years I spent with the Editorial team, I had many great development opportunities, including a year secondment in Shanghai where I lead a team of local reporters to launch the company’s first Chinese language pricing reports.
In 2013, I moved into a market engagement role where I was tasked with building thought leadership in the Asia petrochemicals industry, before taking on my current role in 2018 to lead a team of analysts in Guangzhou, China. Currently, as Head of Energy Analytics, Oil, I lead a team in developing our analytics offerings in the energy space. So many companies are or need to be focussed on having energy transition strategies in place. With governments implementing new legislation around energy usage this is a very exciting space to be working in right now. We are on the cutting edge of understanding and predicting energy trends as the world transitions to greener energy sources.
A customer once said our team brings value by analysing energy developments in China locally with a balance of local and global perspectives. I believe that is a great view of the value we deliver to clients. I also believe that the China insights we provide help people in different parts of the world to understand China. This cross-border and cross-cultural understanding helps build a better world where there is dialogue, mutual trust and goodwill to support the co-creation of value – and I’m so proud I get to be a part of this!
In the 17 years I’ve been with ICIS, I have had endless unique experiences that allowed me to explore different roles geographically as well as cross functionally. I’ve seen a lot of change over the years but what has remained consistent has been a diverse and passionate team of people. I get to work with a team whose daily work is driven by their passion for what they do and by their strong determination to help our customers succeed. The team’s relentless drive and strong commitment inspires me to keep going, even when the going gets tough!

I joined ICIS in March 2020, during lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting a new job virtually seemed to offer an additional challenge, but the culture of the company and the kindness of people made me feel incredibly welcomed from the beginning.
As Market Development Manager, I identify the key markets that are aligned with the company’s mission and develop the strategy towards business growth. It means coordinating the resources internally to reach our objectives and creating relationships with external market influencers to create a bond with the broader market.
I came from the manufacturing business of the chemical industry so when I joined ICIS I was excited for the opportunity to apply my background knowledge of markets and customer understanding for specialised intelligence services on commodities. This purpose became even more special to me with the dynamics of the market recently Customers now more than ever require greater information and transparency so they can make faster decisions with more confidence. The global interaction with my peers has been in an important aspect of my days and hugely contributes to a wider collective knowledge.
The chemicals industry has traditionally been a male dominated environment, and as a woman working within the industry it has been extremely important to have found at ICIS and RELX strong women leaders who inspire and drive high performance across the company. I also think it’s important to pay it forward and help support other women in the industry the way I have felt supported in ICIS. There are numerous employee run Employee Resources Groups across the business with the mandate to empower women and minorities in the workplace, and I participate in regional women networks to strengthen our female talent pipeline.
People at ICIS are so passionate about what they do and that comes through in their work and our culture. It’s unique to be able to enjoy an environment that people are so dedicated to their work but also place a high value on having time to focus on your personal life – for me that is my family, friends, dog, dancing and marketing studies.

I joined the ICIS Sales team in Asia-Pacific in end of 2018. As Key Account Manager, Regional Account manager role I help lead our growth in APAC, specifically to cover new business acquisitions and development in Japan. With over 120 accounts in my portfolio, no day is ever the same and I get to work with a diverse set of clients and colleagues.
I am one of APAC team members based in Japan, so a lot of my days involve connecting with colleagues across Asia and beyond.
I enjoy speaking with clients and understanding their business challenges and needs so that I can make sure we are always delivering value that enables their business success. One thing I’ve learned through my role and working with our clients is the significant impact the chemicals industry has on the world. It’s easy to overlook the way in which chemicals shape lives across the world daily, from personal protective equipment during Covid-19, to being a component in almost every part of the recent Olympics in Tokyo (where we set a Japanese record for medals!). Our lives would look very different without chemicals.
At ICIS, our purpose is to help shape the world by connecting markets, customers, and data. To do this you need to really listen and develop a meaningful relationship with clients; continuously think about how we can elevate our data and insight to be the best partner for their business. You need to be incredibly curious about clients and their business, thinking beyond their day to day and anticipating needs of the future. The pandemic has demonstrated critically to everyone the importance of preparing for the unexpected, and this is where I think ICIS, and my roles provides exceptional value to customers.

I joined ICIS in April 2020, and work as a Senior Analyst within the global Plastics Recycling team.
I am responsible for conducting research on the increasingly important recycling markets in the Americas. In my day to day, I research current recycling trends, identify gaps in the market, and then generate and present analysis and insights for team projects, client meetings, and webinars. This analysis can be anything from supply and demand balance to the impact of new regulations in the recycling market. In my role I also get the opportunity to represent ICIS and the Recycling team at internal and external events, demonstrating our recycling expertise and promoting the impactful work we do at ICIS. This work is especially relevant as more businesses are under pressure from consumers and legislative requirements to reduce their carbon footprint and offer greener options.
One of the aspects I appreciate most about my role at ICIS is the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues from across the business, based in different regions such as UK, Italy, and Singapore, along with me in the United States. I enjoy covering the Americas region as it includes my home country, Brazil, and other developing countries in Latin America.
The amount of cross-functional learning has really helped my professional development and I relish the chance to share the work of the recycling team and all the exciting developments that have such a substantial real-world impact. A great example of this is the Recycling Supply Tracker we recently launched. ICIS is the first in the world to offer a global database that tracks the supply and demand of recycled resin, or what people would commonly know as plastic. This is a big deal as it changes the way in which companies can source recycled plastics to be reused. The implications this has on creating a greener planet could be tremendous and I’m thrilled that I get to say I played a part in making it happen!
I truly believe recycling is one of the main solutions to manage the plastic waste challenge we face across the world. It’s great knowing that the work I do helps companies understand the recycling market better to make sustainable business decisions. I am chemical engineer with career focused on plastics. So, being able to work with plastics and recycling together makes me very happy.
